China National Tobacco Corporation has explored the HnB market for 5 years, andit has become the leader of the HnB industry.
By September 2020, among the world’s 200 countries and regions, 62 permit HNB, counting 31%; 16 prohibit HNB, counting 8%.
Though there are earlier examples of tobacco-vapor products, heat-not-burn (HNB) products available from tobacco manufacturers today have found new footing in the fight for market lead over cigarette alternatives, though not without scrutiny.
Heat-not-burn (HNB) products are some of the Next Generation Products (NGP) proposed by the Big Tobacco industry in response to a general concern about tobacco harm-reduction. Such Modified Risk Tobacco Products (MRTPs) consist in heated dried tobacco to produce inhalable vapor, in contrast with cigarettes where the combusted tobacco produces smoke.
