Research 67% of Americans Agree to Legalize Marijuana in 2020, Increasing up to 30% From 2000

A Pew study showed that two-thirds of Americans support legalizing marijuana in 2020.

The study shows that public support for the legalization of cannabis has increased significantly, and the rate of change in public opinion has approached 40% over the past 20 years.

Benzinga analyzed Pew’s public opinion over the past two decades and found that only 37% of Americans supported the legalization of marijuana in 2000.

Pew’s public opinion survey this year shows that nearly 70% (67%) of Americans say they have considered in legalizing marijuana.

Strangely, although most American adults support the legalization of marijuana, most of them say they have never used medical hemp or recreational marijuana.

According to data released in 2018 by the Underthing Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, nearly half (48%) of American adults say that they consumed cannabis in any capacity.
