Lawmakers in Nebraska are working with local activists to bring recreational marijuana to the state vote in the 2022 election.
The campaign will collect separate signatures to legalize medical marijuana, which will publish the wording of such proposals in January next year.
Marijuana moment reported the move on December 7 by state senators Adam morfeld and Anna Wishart. In a state that relies on agriculture, such as Nebraska, legalization of marijuana will lead to the liberalization and marketization of marijuana for leisure use, which is very simple.
This will pave the way for local producers to grow their own cannabis crops and eventually synthesize e-cigarettes containing tetrahydrocannabinol and CBD compounds, as well as other cannabinoids found in such e-cigarettes.
The American Civil Liberties Union chapter in Nebraska have also announced support for the proposal Morfeld and Wishart have presented.
“This is an issue where current state law is far behind most Nebraskans’ values. We’re ready to end the failed war on drugs,” the ACLU of Nebraska said in a Twitter statement.
Nebraska Medical Marijuana issue, the Political Committee led by mofeld and vissaud has issued a possible constitutional language on whether to approve the legalization of marijuana.
